We are proud to announce that The Newbury of Brookline has been named the winner of the Independent Living category in the 2025 Senior Housing News Architecture & Design Awards.
Presented annually by Senior Housing News, a leading WTWH Healthcare publication, the Architecture & Design Awards honor communities around the world that set new standards in innovation, aesthetics, and functionality across the senior living spectrum.
“This year’s entries showcased remarkable creativity and ambition, pushing innovation in design across the continuum of care,” said Tim Mullaney, VP and Editorial Director of WTWH Healthcare. “These projects are redefining standards for care, operations and amenities — demonstrating what’s possible for the future.”
Standing proudly among an inspiring list of peers, The Newbury of Brookline was recognized for its thoughtful architecture, timeless design, and its seamless blend of historic character and modern living. The community’s transformation of the iconic Mitton House and surrounding campus celebrates Brookline’s rich heritage while creating a sophisticated, welcoming environment that promotes independence, connection, and wellbeing.
“This national recognition is a testament to the vision, creativity, and collaboration that brought The Newbury to life — from the design and construction teams to the members and associates who make our community truly exceptional,” said Frances Bates, general manager at the 159-residence community. “We are honored to receive this distinction and grateful to everyone who helped shape The Newbury into a place that exemplifies The Art of Living Well at every age.”
